Theistic Fallacies
Some folks accuse me of attacking religion in my blog. Personal preferences aside, I am not attacking religion, or one's personal belief in a diety, but I do attack the ridiculous arguments used to support someone's belief. It's not that belief is wrong, or that religion is bad (I do not make the claims Hitchens argues), but that there are dozens of fallacious and poorly reasoned arguments that people use to defend their choice to belief in a God. Attacking your rationale is NOT attacking your belief.
Nonetheless, I will continue to be maligned in emails over my postings. So be it. My hope is to improve everyone's rational thinking skills so that should they choose to defend their beliefs, they do so with an argument that stands up to scrutiny and lends support for their own position. To that end, I think the video below would be helpful for the believer and the nonbeliever alike.
Let's dispense with these poor arguments and really discuss religion, faith, and the existence of God with honesty, integrity, and intelligence.
